Family Memories and a Gorgeous French Apple Tart
A tart is a delectable European type of pie that has a rich sweet crust and is filled with fruit, pastry cream or nuts. It is typically topped with fruit and finished with a lovely fruit glaze.
To create a sumptuous tart, you’ll need a tart pan rather than a pie pan. The difference is that the sides of the tart pan are usually perpendicular to the bottom and removable. The result – a breathtakingly beautiful pie with a delicate flavor profile and elegant appearance.
I really enjoyed making this tart. Actually, this is the first time that I had made a tart of this kind.
These beautiful delicacies were one of my father’s favorite pastries and are an iconic staple in my childhood food memories. Making this pie reminded me of my late father. When in Europe, tarts graced the showcase at most bakeries. The aroma took me so nostalgically back to my childhood…and thoughts of my father sitting outside of a bakery and sipping a cappuccino.
I was instantly transported to another place and time, imagining my father’s experiences living in Europe and how much he must have enjoyed it.
I’m beyond grateful for these wonderful food memories and the ability to recreate special moments through European delights like the French Apple Tart.
